Watkins Glen & Road America

Updated: Sep 5, 2022

We are back with SVRA at Watkins Glen next weekend and at Road America with VSCDA the following weekend. Both weekends are events that have been on the Monoposto schedule for many years, are at classic tracks and accordingly have lots of Monoposto entries.

In addition to the on-track activities, the Watkins Glen schedule includes fun off-track activities like the Historical Tech Inspection Re-enactment at Smalley’s Garage and the Downtown Old Course Re-enactment. Formula cars are excluded from these re-enactments but you can still be a spectator and can also drive your street car around the Old Course sometime over the weekend.

The Glen’s Classic Monoposto run group has 17 entries while the wings & slicks group has 23, meaning that no matter what your pace is there should be someone for you to dice with. To make things even better the weather forecast looks promising with the possibility of a shower or two at the end of the weekend.

The Road America schedule is also full of additional on and off-track activities with a Road Course reenactment, a Concours d’ Elegance, a “Race with Women of Motorsports” and three additional Cup races. Of special interest to Monoposto members is the fact that the event is also the second of three events this year to commemorate the 1967 beginning of formula B. A large group of FB cars is anticipated. All-in-all the entry list is driven by the fact that VSCDA and HSR are jointly presenting the event.

It's hard to forecast the weather two weeks out but typically Wisconsin is delightful at this time of the year.

There will be Monoposto parties at both the Glen and at Road America. The times and places will be announced at each event, most likely on the false grid early in the event.

I hope to see you at the track.
