Monoposto’s third trip to Road America and the next to last event for the 2024 Monoposto season is next weekend. VSCDA's Ariens Art on Wheels Vintage Weekend brings all Monoposto classes together for three days of competition with an optional Road America test day on Thursday.
The track was completely repaved for the 2023 season and, as of our last visit in July, has weathered in well. What started as a narrow path of grip only on the line has widened to make side-by-side racing and passing quite possible. The long straights make drafting and then passing one or more cars before going into turns 1, 5, 8, or 12 a reality. In many classes the order across the start/finish line can be different each lap. With over 80 open-wheel entries, this event promises to be the largest gathering of Monoposto cars so far on our 2024 schedule.
There are dedicated group races, special “Cup” races, an East/West Challenge formula Ford race and the fourth race in this year’s formula B Continental Championship Series to end the weekend. As is typical for this event there are also many non-racing activities on the schedule including a road course re-enactment.
Ron Hornig will host the Monoposto party in the garages near the Tech shed. It will begin at 5pm on Friday night, just after the East/West Challenge formula Ford race. After the Monoposto party you can head down to the Road America Center for the Victory Lane Welcome Reception.
I look forward to seeing you at the event.
