A Classic Event Next Weekend

SVRA’s U. S. Vintage Grand Prix at the Glen is next weekend. Not only is this a great racing venue the schedule includes the re-enactment which allows race cars to drive the original road course on local roads and through downtown Watkins Glen.  This is also the only SVRA event of the year that is only for vintage/historic cars so there is plenty of track time on offer.  In addition to the usual sequence of practice, qualifying and group races the schedule includes two Formula Vee Challenge Cup series races.

The track itself is marvelous to drive.  The esses leading up to the bus stop chicane, the carousel into the boot, the toe and the highspeed last two turns are all challenging and reward drivers with the best overall setup on their cars.  The early entry list showed that formula car entries are at the low end of the historical entry counts for this event but if you’re going to be there it also presents an opportunity to accrue points toward the 2026 Monoposto championships.

As the schedule has formula cars on track at the end of each day there will be no Monoposto party.  Instead enjoy the SVRA dinner on Saturday night.
