The Last Event is Coming

The weekend of November 5th to 8th brings the final event on the 2026 Monoposto schedule.  It is also the last opportunity to experience the Circuit of the Americas with SVRA because in 2027, as SVRA puts it, “the track is transitioning into a private members-only club."  I’m sending this pre-event email earlier than normal to give you more time to consider entering in case you want to experience the track that hosts F1’s U. S. Grand Prix.

Ever since 2013 COTA has been the final event on the Monoposto schedule.  Its Texas location makes it accessible for racers across the U. S. Correspondingly the open wheel run groups have always been large and full of very competitive racing.  Already, more than two weeks before the event, there are 55 open-wheel cars entered.

When you watch the F1 race at COTA think of the care the track designers took to include sections evocative of the best and most iconic of tracks around the world.  These features begin with the sharply uphill entry to turn 1 and the fact that what starts out about 9 cars wide narrows to maybe 3 or 4 by corner exit.  The next section of the esses really tests the handling of your car, its balance, your reflexes and your spatial awareness.  You then go over a blind ridge down to a hairpin that leads to the longest straight.  Balancing the car through turns 12 to 16 and the marvelous triple apex sequence formally known as turns 17 and 18 and then through two left hand turns to the finish line to complete a lap.

Reasons for coming to COTA include the chance to experience a track that may not be open to vintage racers in the future, and to explore the challenging features and turn sequences.  But as a Monoposto racer, since 10 of the 11 Monoposto championships are undecided at this point. you could come away from the event as a 2026 Monoposto champion.

The event is huge with multiple paddock locations and lots of non-racing activities so there will not be a Monoposto party, so instead join your fellow racers at the SVRA Championship banquet on Saturday night.  I hope everyone has a great time!
