Once Again Road America

Monoposto’s annual trek to Road America’s WeatherTech Vintage Weekend begins in 5 days.  Without a doubt this will be the largest event on the Monoposto calendar this year and one well worth attending. Thousands of race fans who are highly knowledgeable and interested in our cars are expected to fill the paddock and spectator areas to see the competition.

In total there are over 80 single seat cars entered, from F1 to FJ.  While all the cars entered are historic or vintage, the F1 cars range from relatively modern Benneton and Jordan chassis to cars from the classic 3-liter era of F1.  Formula Atlantics, Formula 5000, SuperVees and Indy Lights will be there in significant numbers.  In addition, dozens of Classic Monoposto cars will be on the grid.  

While some of the early practice and qualifying sessions will be combined, we will be racing in four separate race groups on Sunday: Classic Monoposto, F5000, Modern Formula and Historic F1.  All-in-all there will be great racing in all Monoposto classes.

Monoposto’s visit to Road America earlier this year in May proved that faster lap times and great racing are very achievable on this iconic track.  The weather forecast shows high temperatures in the mid-70s and a chance of showers through the weekend.

In addition to the racing, the weekend schedule is full of non-racing activities from road car and race car concours to a race car parade into downtown Elkhart Lake.  The total car entry count for the weekend is well over 400!  Because of all the competition for attention due to the broad range of activities there will not be a Monoposto party.
