Monoposto’s 2022 Penultimate Race Weekend

Updated: Oct 11, 2022

This weekend at Road Atlanta is the next to last event on this year’s Championship schedule. Historic Sportscar Racing returns to the iconic Georgia track for the second time this year on the Monoposto schedule. And just a few days ago Road Atlanta was the setting for the final IMSA WeatherTech series race and now vintage racers get their chance to compete on the track in an event that may seal the championship hopes for those competing in one of the eleven class series that Monoposto hosts.

At this point in the championship competition none of the championships have been clinched but by my analysis it’s possible that 5 of our 11 champions can be named by the time the weekend is over. In just four weeks (following the conclusion of our last event at COTA) all of our 2022 champions will be determined

The sad news is that this weekend’s entry list shows only 9 open wheel entries so we will all be in one run group. Furthermore, the entries are spread across 5 of our classes so unless the late entries really climb there won’t be much championship competition.

Because of the small number of entries there will be no Monoposto party at the event, but racers are welcome to search out my location in the GMT paddock for a beverage and a chance to talk over the racing. Don’t hesitate to come by and visit with me.
