Down to the Wire at CoTA

Updated: Nov 9, 2022

A couple of weeks ago Max Verstappen became the Driver’s Champion and last weekend, with 3 race weekends remaining in the F1 schedule, the F1 Constructors championship was decided. The final weekend of Monoposto’s 2022 championship competitions is next weekend at CoTA and yet none of our 11 champions have been determined.

It looks like the entry list for Classic, F70 and Indy Lights reflects the fact that our championships are undecided. There are over 51 Classic Monoposto cars and 20 wings and slicks cars registered. While it’s clear that by the end of the weekend’s first round of races some of our 2022 champions will be decided, it will take the full weekend to name all 11 champions.

SVRA at Circuit of the Americas has been the final event on the Monoposto schedule each year since 2013 because of its location and the fact that CoTA is a fun and challenging track to drive. From the wide entry/narrow exit turn 1 through the very rapid sequence of the esses to the “hang on for dear life” sweeper known formally as turns 16/17/18, the young track offers classic challenges. The long-term weather forecast looks great as well so we should have a fine time at the Monoposto season finale.

Since the entry list for event is so large and the paddocks are widely spread apart there will be no Monoposto party. If you’d like to chat or lobby for next year’s schedule, please drop by my paddock area (usually near the Media Center) and say hello.
